lyrics
Dark nights you spend away
These moments you decide
You feel the false embrace
To keep what’s left in mind
Your broken promise
Remember worried eyes
Familiar police
What lies so deep inside
Because I want it all
And I need to know
Is this what it’s like
Or should I
Step into your shadow
Does it make you nervous
Feeling like your left behind
Struggling to flourish
Knowing that you can’t refuse your name
Your fate engulfed in flames
A siren song you’ll find
No bones or birds of prey
We watch as embers die
To be so honest
A fear to reignite
Hands burned and callous
A light that will reside
Because I want it all
And I need to know
Is this what it’s like
Or should I
Step into your shadow
Does it make you nervous
Feeling like your left behind
Struggling to flourish
Knowing that you can’t refuse your name
These words are sacred
In life’s mutation
We’re closer now then we were before
And from the shadows a destination
We’re looking out for the light again
Looking at us now
It’s better than before
And I don’t hate you
But I know that I can hardly take it
A place I’ve never been
And I’ll never be much more
Hoping that you’ll know
It’s time again
My hate
My hurt
Is buried deep beneath dirt
It breaks down becomes earth
And turns into determination
My fate
My curse
Through pain and through thirst
A new rain to reverse
I’m reborn from my desperation
I've always been on the fence about Elder. The musicianship was always there but it never clicked. Omens and Innate Passage have certainly changed that. QNdNas7kQgBG5fi
With all respect due to Nick DiSalvo, who is incredibly talented, the proggy vocals are not what I love the most with Elder. What I love the most, I'll admit, is the incredible synthy, krauty goodness, from the track Sonntag on the previous album to the wonderful delving LP Hirschbrunnen. These instrumental Sessions were a major step in that direction, I think, and I love them dearly for it. Coraxio
Literally the only issue I found in that album is that there seems to be a typo in the first track’s title, which went from “Copper Wasp” to “Cooper Wasp” between the EP and that release. 🙃 Alice M.
The sophomore album from former session musician Imraan Paleker highlights his modern soul, alt-rock, jazz, and electronic sensibilities. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 16, 2020
Tasteful & intricate instrumentals, exciting rhythms & melodies, soaring vocals, aggressive guitars, unique and high quality production. Absolute masterclass in creating an album. Luke Richerson
